A neuromorphic object-capturing circuit based on biological saccadic systems

چکیده
A simple object capturing circuit which is based on the biological structure of the superior colliculus and retina is proposed for realizing an artificial saccadic system. The function of the superior colliculus, an afferent and efferent mappings are considered in the circuit. Results of numerical and SPICE simulations reveal that the proposed circuit could shift the gaze toward the target in the absence of learning processes. Furthermore, it is clarified that candidates of parameters required for tuning the model are the gain and space constants of an efferent mapping and strength of lateral inhibition in the superior colliculus.

Analog VLSI-Based Modeling of the Primate Oculomotor System
One way to understand a neurobiological system is by building a simulacrum that replicates its behavior in real time using similar constraints. Analog very large-scale integrated (VLSI) electronic circuit technology provides such an enabling technology. We here describe a neuromorphic system that is part of a long-term effort to understand the primate oculomotor system. It requires both fast se...

Neuromorphic Sensory Processing Using Analog Very Large-Scale Integration Circuits Neuromorphic circuits are analog circuits that implement models of biological systems for sensory processing. Because the neuromorphic circuits share the same physical constraints as their biological counterparts, they have similar organizational structures and use similar strategies for optimizing robustness to ...
متن کاملLong-term Potentiation in Memristive Neuromorphic Systems
The memristor, a recently developed electronic component, behaves analogously to synapses in biological neural networks. Neuromorphic systems, which model biological neurons as electronic circuits, can implement memristors as synapses. Memristive devices were fabricated at the University of Michigan using tungsten oxide. These devices were to be used in neuromorphic systems, but they did not su...

Neuromorphic systems are inspired by the structure, function and plasticity of biological nervous systems [1]. They are artificial neural systems that mimic algorithmic behavior of the biological animal systems through efficient adaptive and intelligent control techniques. They are designed to adapt, learn from their environments, and make decisions like biological systems and not to perform be...
